Parents' Prayers For April

April 5  Rule over the creation

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Genesis 1:28)

God, you are the Lord of our family. You made the family the climax of your creation and made it the crown among all the others. May that blessing come to our family. You commanded us to increase in number, fill the earth, and to subdue it. Grant our family the ability to subdue our environment and not be subdued by it. Help us to be good stewards of the earth and to rule over it. Help us to rule over the things of the earth and to appropriately use the authority you have given us. Help us to be good stewards of our material wealth. Keep us from becoming slaves to riches.

Help our family to also rule over the feelings of anxiety and worry. Free us from worrying about the things of tomorrow. Give us strength to subdue our worries. Also, when the temptations of alcohol and gambling ensnare us, give us strength to subdue and rule over those feelings so we may never become slaves to addictions. Keep us from being subdued and ruled by other things. Rather, help us to be good stewards of the authority you have given us to subdue and to rule over the earthly things.

April 6  Help us to rest with the Lord

By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.(Genesis 2:2)

Lord, you have created the family to become a place of rest. Help us to find that true rest in you. In this modern age, the family in the home has been reduced to merely people in a house. The home has become a place of only sleep. The families today live a life of fatigue and busyness. Help our family to find true rest in the Lord even in the midst of these times.

Lord, you have blessed the 7th day. Help us to be blessed on the 7th day having fellowship with you. You have called us to rest on that day, so help our family to find true rest. Help us to learn that true rest comes only from the Lord and the Lord's forgiveness. Help our family to experience God's true forgiveness.

Help us to realize that God's Sabbath rest can result only when we have a Shalom (peace) relationship with the Lord. May true healing come to our family when we find true rest in the Lord. Help our family not to become a slave to the clock. Help us to participate in that holy day so we may experience the blessings of the 7th day.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

April 7  Helpful partner

The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." .....So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field. But for Adam no suitable helper was found. (Genesis 2:18, 20,21)

Dear God of love, thank you for creating a wife for every family. Thank you that she teaches her family how to love God and becomes a helpful co-worker with her husband. May the wife in our family truly follow God's will for her and become reborn in the Lord, as a beautiful woman of God. May the husband experience the help of God through his wife.

May the wife help her husband to have a healthy physical relationship, and may they become true friends. May they work together, growing mentally and spiritually. May they always walk hand in hand and become loving spouses to each other.

May you bless the wife that she may be a spiritual helper to her husband. Help them to build a family altar. Help the wife to be strong that she may bear children, and give both parents wisdom in raising their children. More than anything else, give them wisdom to discern the temptations of Satan. Help the husband to look to God in all things. Thank you for creating the wife in the family.

April 8  May the husband and wife become one flesh

The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called 'woman,' for she was taken out of man." (Genesis 2:23)

O Lord, thank you for creating the man and the woman. Thank you for establishing the family through their union. Help the husband and the wife to work together in raising godly children. Help them to further the kingdom of God through maintaining their family.

Lord, you have created the husband and wife to be become one. Please help us to become one before you. Help us to know the mystery of Christ's marriage to the church. Help us, the husband and wife, to become one in love, to become one in flesh, and to respect and revere one another.

Help us, both to become one in spiritual mission so we may praise and worship God with one heart. Help us to be one when we raise our children according to Christian values. Help us to share the same vision, and to become one in all things.
