Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

God of abounding love and grace, thank you for calling our family together to pray. Thank you for watching over us and for keeping us safe. Please guard our family from illness during the warm weather, and we pray that you will protect our nation from natural disasters.

Lord of meekness, you have taught us, ''Blessed are the meek''. Lord, grant our children meekness. The people of the world place the highest value on power and authority; but you have taught us not only that the meek are blessed, but also that they will inherit the earth. May the blessings of meekness overflow in our children's lives. May the Holy Spirit help them to be truly meek, for they cannot do it on their own. The Apostle Paul taught us to have the mind of Christ, which we know to be that of meekness. Lord, grant our family the blessings of meekness. We pray in the name of Jesus, who came as a servant. Amen.

August 6  May they inherit the earth

Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. (Matthew 5:5)

Lord, you are the source of all life. Thank you for watching over us today and for being with us. Thank you for giving us the inheritance of the earth where all plants have life. Grant our children the blessings of this inheritance for generations to come. Lord, give them the authority to inherit the land that provides us with everything we need.

Lord, you are the true owner of all the earth. The earth provides us with food, drink, and a place to find rest. Thank you for granting us all these so that we are not needy. Grant our children the inheritance of the earth that comes from meekness, just as you gave the Israelites the land of Canaan as their inheritance. Lord, grant us this marvelous blessing.

August 7

May we hunger and thirst for righteousness

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

Eternal God, we pray, hungering and thirsting for your word and your love. Have mercy on our thirst, and quench it with your living water. We believe that you will always fill us, according to your promise. You said, ''blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness'', so grant our children the hunger and thirst for the righteousness of God. Help them to understand that Jesus Christ is the true righteousness, so they may hunger and thirst for Jesus.

Lord, our righteousness, we can’t help but be hungry and thirsty when we look away from Jesus our Lord. The only one who can resolve our hunger and thirst is Jesus Christ, our eternal living water. Help our children to understand that no one else can satisfy their hunger and thirst but Jesus. Help them to seek this spiritual truth. The people of the world think that those who are full of food are blessed. But the Bible teaches us that the truly blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. Grant our children the spiritual thirst for God's righteousness and not for the perishing things of this world.

August 8  May they be filled

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5:6)

God of love, thank you for giving us hunger and thirst for righteousness. The world is full of souls who hunger and thirst for the worldly things. Help us to become your instruments to help them realize that it is better to have a hunger and thirst for righteousness. There are those who don't know how to fill their hunger. Help us to give them the true bread of life, who is Jesus Christ.

Lord, you are the bread of life. We ask you for the true living bread. May our children be filled with this living bread. Man cannot live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Feed us from the tree of life in heaven. Lord, feed our children with the word of God just as you fed the Israelites in the desert with manna and quail. Thank you for your blessings for the month of August. Help us to be a family that worships God in truth and spirit.
