Parents' Prayers For October
October 5 Signs of true believers
And these signs
will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they
will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when
they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their
hands on sick people, and they will get well." (Mark 16:17-18)
God of might,
thank you for giving us wisdom and power today to overcome in this world of
darkness. Thank you for providing us with victory over death. Help us to become
a victorious family. Lord, you are the king of kings. Thank you for helping us
to live by faith that bears fruit in our works. Lord, keep us from having faith
without works, which is dead. Grant us faith with works, so we may experience
the mighty signs of God.
We pray that our
children will be blessed as they witness the work of God that comes from their
living faith. Lord, you taught us that '' these signs will accompany those who
believe.'' May our children witness these signs as they put their faith in you.
Lord, give them signs to overcome the power of darkness wherever they go. Give
them faith to bring healing and blessings, just as Jesus did. Lord, faith
without works means that there is no true faith. Help us to have a living faith
that bears fruit in our works so we may experience your signs.
We pray in Jesus'

October 6 We are more than conquerors
No, in all these
things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (Romans 8:37)
Lord, you are our
shield. Although we are weak by ourselves, thank you for being with us and
blessing us so we will become strong and bold in this world. Lord, keep us from
being cowardly. Give our family faith so we may be more than conquerors.
Although we have
victory in you, we often find ourselves overcome by little things. We confess
our weakness in being hurt over misunderstandings and for having broken
relationships with others. Lord, our children are young, and it is difficult
for them to be protected with spiritual armor. Be with our children and clothe
them with the armor of the Holy Spirit so they may prevail over Satan's
temptations with wisdom and power. Lord, help them to become more than
conquerors through Jesus so they don't shrink back in the face of the trials
and hardships.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
October 7 Submit yourselves to God
Submit yourselves,
then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)
Lord, thank you
for the month of October. Please help us to return to your word during this
season, and let there be a revival in our life of faith. Is our family in need
of renewal? If so, please help us to be renewed by the word of God.
Lord, you taught
us that to obey is better than to sacrifice. We learned that we must first
submit ourselves to the Lord, and then resist the devil and he will flee. Bless
our children with the spirit of submission and obedience to God. Lord, we know
that we give the devil a foothold when we disobey you, and disobedience leads
to temptations we cannot overcome. Guide our children to follow their spiritual
path by obeying God, who is the Creator, and also by obeying their parents.
We pray in Jesus'

October 8 Put on the full armor of God
Finally, be strong
in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you
can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not
against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,
against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil
in the heavenly realms. (Ephesians 6:10-12)
Lord, you are the
God of victory. We pray once again for our children. Grant them the gift of
spiritual discernment so they may prevail over the power of darkness. Lord,
always help them to be ready by wearing the full armor of God, with the belt of
truth buckled around their waist.
Lord, add unto
them the shield of faith, the breastplate of righteousness, the helmet of
salvation, feet fitted with the gospel of peace, and the sword of the Spirit.
Give them the spirit of truth so they may recognize the schemes of the devil
and prevail over them.
Lord, our children
live in the 21st century where the New Age movement has infiltrated almost
everywhere. Its agenda appears in movies, music, and even the video games they
play. Lord, give them the awareness to know this, and may they confess only
Jesus as their Lord.
We pray in the
name of Jesus, who is our protector. Amen.
