Parents' Prayers For December
December 5 Add godliness to perseverance For this very
reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to
brotherly kindness, love. (2 Peter 1:5-7) Lord, you are the
source of all joy. Thank you for giving us today. Thank you for granting our
children faith and godliness. Thank you also for granting them, goodness,
knowledge, self-control, and perseverance. Guide our children
to reflect your image as they grow to love you. Help them to be more like Jesus
as they grow in godliness. Lord, the world is full of people who are carnal,
worldly, and offensive. Protect our children from learning from these people.
Instead may they see the godliness in our children and, through them, change
their lives. Lord, although it is important for our children to do well in
school, our first priority is for them to learn godliness. Bless them that they
may live godly lives through studying your word and through discipline. We pray
in Jesus' name, Amen. December 6 Add brotherly kindness to godliness For this very
reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to
brotherly kindness, love. (2 Peter 1:5-7) Lord, thank you
for giving us brothers and sisters. Help us to love and help each other, and to
be concerned for one another. Help our children to live in love and peace with
their brothers and sisters. Lord, you teach us
in the Bible that your brothers and sisters are those who do the will of God.
Although we have biological siblings, we also have brothers and sisters in the
church, the body of Christ. Please help our children to love their brothers and
sisters in Christ. Help them to add to their godliness, brotherly kindness.
Lord, guard our children from being kind only in their words and not in their
actions. Grant them true brotherly kindness. Lord, help our children to
experience the joy of brotherly love. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. December 7 Add love to brotherly kindness For this very
reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance;
and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to
brotherly kindness, love. (2 Peter 1:5-7) Lord, thank you
for leading us to live godly lives and teaching our children to love their
neighbors and their brothers and sisters. Thank you for teaching them to
cherish these relationships with love. Lord, how can we claim to love our
neighbors if we don't even love our brothers and sisters? Lord, we know
especially that we love God when we love our brothers and sisters. Lord, we pray for
our children to grow in godliness. We pray that they may share the love of God
with their neighbors. Give them love to add to brotherly kindness. You teach us
in the Bible that love is patient, so please bless them to show this patience.
Lord, you teach us in the Bible that love is meek, so please bless them to have
the meekness of Jesus when they love others. You also said that love is not
rude, so please keep them from being rude to others. Lord, help them with all
these things so they may truly possess godliness. Lord, grant them faith, goodness,
knowledge, self-control, perseverance, brotherly kindness, and love so they may
grow to be beautiful men and women who reflect the image of the living God. We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen. December 8 Bearing the fruit of love But the fruit of
the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. (Galatians
5:22-23)
