October Prayers of
Blessings for the Children -Spiritual
Armor-·
Prayers for
October will be for the spiritual
protection of our children.
It is also the
month for celebrating t
he Reformation
movement.
There will be
words used in the prayers such as
,
"Satan" "evil spirits", and "power of darkness".
If it is not
appropriate to use these words
in front of your
children because of their age,
it would be wise to pray separately.
If you do pray
with your children,
modify the phrase
so that they will not be fearful.
October 1 Have life in its fullness
The thief comes
only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and
have it to the full. (John 10:10)
O God of eternal
life, thank you for this new month of October and for the chance to pray for
our children's spiritual welfare. Lord, bless our children with the gift of
spiritual discernment, so they may always be able to distinguish between the
light of truth and the darkness of falsehood.
Lord, help our
children to know who their enemy is so they may be armed with the Holy Spirit
and the word of God. May they never be overcome by the enemy, especially since
they live in the 21st century that is marked by secularism, moral decay, and
chaos. Help them to be alert in times like these and to be prepared
spiritually.
Lord, you are the
giver of life. You are the true shepherd who came to give life to your flock.
Help our children to recognize the voice of their shepherd, the Lord, who comes
in through the gate. Protect them from the thief that comes to steal the sheep.
May they look to Jesus who gives them life.
We pray in the
name of our Shepherd, Jesus, Amen.
October 2 God's protection
I give them
eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my
hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all4); no one can
snatch them out of my Father's hand. (John 10:28-29)
Jehovah Nissi, you
are God, the banner of our victory. Thank you for these beautiful autumn days.
Thank you for providing an abundant harvest so we may have enough to eat. Help
us during this beautiful season to come closer to the word of God.
God of Salvation,
help our children to experience the salvation that brings freedom and power
into their daily lives. Be their protection from the powers of darkness. We
pray in your name that no one may snatch them out of your hands.
Lord, guide them
to put on the helmet of salvation to protect their heads with a living hope as
they look to God. Grant our children your eternal blessings as you hold them in
the palm of your hands.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
October 3 Put aside the deeds of darkness
The night is
nearly over; the day is almost here. So, let us put aside the deeds of darkness
and put on the armor of light. (Romans 13:12)
Lord, may your
light fill our home and church even as we live in this dark secular world.
Satan works in the darkness through which he has the power to tempt us. Lord,
protect us from the temptations of this darkness. Lead us to put aside the
deeds of darkness and to be clothed in the armor of light and the Holy Spirit.
Lord, thank you
for your grace that sends these precious children to our family. We believe
that your desire is for them to live a life that is blessed through the word of
God. Guard our children from associating with the deeds of darkness. Help them
to overcome this darkness with your light. It is so easy for them to be
tempted. Lord, anoint our children so they will hate the deeds of darkness and
be clothed in the armor of light.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
October 4 Freedom from fear
For God did not
give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of
self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)
Lord, thank you
for giving us bold faith to live in victory in this dark world. Thank you for
being our protection when we are weak. Great Lord, you have been already
prevailed over the power of darkness and taken away its weapons. May our
children know this truth and live free from the bondage of fear. Although Satan
has been stripped of his power, he still deceives us. Guard them from falling
into Satan's temptations.
Lord, we pray that
our children may live in freedom from the bondage of fear. You are not the God
of fear. You are the God of truth who gives us the word of God to prevail over
fear. Lord, help our children to not even fear death. Help them to follow
Jesus, who overcame death. We believe that we already have the victory because
you have prevailed for us. Bless us, Lord.
