Parents' Prayers For November
November 5 Deliver us from our troubles A righteous man
may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; he protects
all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Evil will slay the wicked;
(Psalm 34:19-20) Holy Lord, we
remember that you have called us to be holy. But Lord, when we try to live
according to your commands, we are persecuted and troubled. We have learned
from the passage today that the Lord delivers the righteous from many troubles.
We see that although Jesus also suffered many troubles, the Father delivered
him and kept every single one of his bones from breaking, just as it was
prophesied. Lord, we must also
bear our crosses as we follow Jesus, receiving persecutions and troubles. But
Lord, help us to know that it is a special privilege to be persecuted for
Christ's sake. Help us to rejoice that our troubles come because we are true
Christians. Help us also to experience God, who delivers us from many troubles.
Help us to believe that none of our bones will be broken. Lord, when our
children face troubles and hardship in following Jesus, guard them from denying
him. Help them to overcome their troubles by experiencing God's deliverance. We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen. November 6 Protect us from scorn We are objects of
reproach to our neighbors, of scorn and derision to those around us. (Psalm
79:4) Lord, thank you
for loving us and accepting us just as we are; we give you all the glory.
Although you love us just as we are, the world scorns and mocks us for various
reasons. We are mocked because of our physical appearance or because we believe
in God. They scorn us saying, where is your God? when we are waiting for
answers to our prayers. Lord, please help
our children to remember that you love them just the way you created them,
especially when others tease them because of some outward appearance. Teach
them to be joyful when others mock them for believing in God. Help them to be
thankful when they are persecuted for the Lord's sake. Lord, help them to
overcome persecution, scorn, and suffering by remembering the eternal things.
Bless them to stand firmly before God even if the world should slander and mock
them. Help us to know that it is blessed to be persecuted for righteousness'
sake. We pray in the name of Jesus, who was scorned because of our sins. Amen. November 7 Keep us from generational sins Do not hold
against us the sins of the fathers; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for
we are in desperate need. (Psalm 79:8) Lord, you have
already redeemed us from sin, but we confess that there is an even greater need
to pray for our children. We are troubled that they witness generational sins,
because of the repeated patterns in our family. Lord, free our family from such
enslavement with your mighty power. Help us to model holy lives before our
children so they may also live holy lives. Lord, we believe
that you have forgotten all of our forgiven sins. Please don't remember the
sins of our forefathers, and prevent the results of their sins from being
visited upon us. Protect our children from the sins of their forefathers. Lord,
please tear down the barriers of generational sins, and protect our children
with the blood of Jesus. Guide our children to victory in Jesus. Have mercy on
our family, and especially our children. Help us to not repeat the sins of our
forefathers. We pray in the
name of Jesus, Amen. November 8 Save us from the ways of the wicked
