WRITING (6 + 1 Traits of Writing) 영어작문 잘 쓰는 비법-2

6+1 Traits of Writing의 criteria로 다음과 같은 key questions들을 물어보아야 합니다.

§  Ideas: Did the Writer stay focused and share original and fresh information or perspective on the topic? (글쓴이가 제목에 대해 오리지널하고 참신한 정보와 견해를 갖고 이에 초점을 맞추어 독자와 나누고 있는가?)

§  Organization: Does the organizational structure enhance the ideas and make them easier to understand? (글의 구성이 아이디어를 더 쉽게 이해하도록 되어 있는가?)

§  Voice: Would you keep reading this piece if it were longer? (글쓴이의 목소리가 흥미진진해서 독자로서 이 글이 더 길더라도 계속 읽겠는가?)

§  Word Choice: Do the words and phrases create vivid pictures and linger in your mind? (단어 선택이 독자의 마음에 선명한 그림을 그리게 만들고, 계속 마음에 남아 있는가?)

§  Sentence Fluency: Can you feel the words and phrases flow together as you read the piece aloud? (글을 소리내어 읽으면 단어와 구절의 유창한 흐름을 느낄 수 있는가?)

§  Conventions: How much editing is needed to share this piece outside? (이 글을 외부 사람들과 나누어 읽으려면 얼마나 많은 편집이 필요한가?)

§  Presentation: Is the writing a pleasure to read and show? Does the writer take pride in his or her work? (이 글을 읽고 남에게 보여주는 게 즐거운가? 글쓴이가 자신의 작품을 자랑스럽게 여기는가?)

학교 수업시간에 학생들을 가르칠 때는, 누가 쓴지 모르는 서로의 글(anonymous writing)을 놓고, 학생들을 그룹으로 나누어 함께 교정하고 토론하게 합니다. 그냥 Writing을 쓰기만 하는 게 아니고, 자신의 Writing에 대해 이야기하고 남에게 발표해주는 "Presentation" 단계가 중요합니다. 또 Writing을 reading과 연결(connect)시켜 읽어주는 과정도 있습니다.

또한 다음과 같은 점도 명심해야 합니다.

·         글 쓰는 내용(context),

·         글을 왜 쓰는지 그 역할(role),

·         글을 읽는 대상은 누구인지(audience),

·         글을 어떤 형식으로 쓸 것인지(format),

·         글의 논제는 무엇인지(topic),

·         설득력 있는 동사를 사용하기(strong verbs)
