Parents' Prayers For February
February 5 The blessings of spiritual eyes Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. (Psalm 119:18) O Lord of light and darkness, our children are safely tucked into bed.
Thank you for giving us the night so we can rest. Thank you that we can slumber
peacefully and enjoy restful and deep sleep. Watch over us throughout the night
and sustain us so we may awake in the morning to praise you. Please watch over
us moment by moment. We believe and thank you that you will provide in advance
for everything that we will need tomorrow. Give our children the faith that God
is always with them. O, God of light, give our children the blessings of spiritual sight that
they may see the kingdom of God. You said that there are those who have eyes
but cannot see. May this never be true with our children. Give them eyes so
they may see all the spiritual lessons which you desire to teach them. Give
them eyes to experience all the beautiful things of this world and the eternal
world. May they see all of the beautiful creation of God, and praise him. Give
them light to their eyes that they may never be enslaved to the darkness, and
may they see in advance the spiritual stumbling blocks ahead of time. Also,
give them spiritual eyes to understand the sufferings of others.
We pray in the name of Jesus, who is our true Light. Amen. February 6 The blessings of healthy ears Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the
ears of the deaf unstopped. Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute
tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in
the desert. (Isaiah 35:5-6) O Lord, who has given us the sense of hearing, we
praise you. Thank you for giving us the ability to hear loud things and soft
things. Thank you even more for protecting us from sounds that are harmfully
loud. Thank you for giving us the sense of hearing, the sense of seeing, and
for giving us everything we need to live in this world. Although we have
received many blessings from you, there have been times when we have disobeyed
you. Please forgive us and help us to restore our faith and our life of obedience
to you. O God of love, please help our children to have
healthy ears so they may hear everything in your creation. Help them to hear
and take warning of a ball or anything else coming toward them. Protect them
from fevers that result from ear infections. Even when they are old, help them
to sustain their healthy hearing so they don't have to rely on hearing aids.
Protect them from diseases and illnesses that affect the ears. Give them ears
to hear the Word of God. Give them ears so that when they listen to their
friends, they can also listen to their hearts. We pray in the
name of Jesus, Amen. February 7 The
blessings of spiritual ears The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the
ears of the wise seek it out.(Proverbs 18:15) We give you thanks for your grace, O God, the giver
of eternal life. Thank you for hearing our prayers and for providing us with
our daily bread. Thank you once again for watching over our children, whether
they are at home or at school. Help us to reflect on our life today, to examine
if we have truly lived according to your will. If we did not, then help us to
repent and to receive your help. Lord, we ask that you give our children ears that
can discern the news of God's blessing. Give them ears that they may hear the
voice of God. Give them ears to hear the cry of the poor, the suffering, and
the needy. Give them ears to hear the word of the Lord. Give them attentive
ears that they may not be drowsy when they hear the Word of God. Give them ears
to hear the heart cry of their neighbors and friends. Open wide their ears to
the cry of the destitute that they may not hesitate to help. Give them joy to
hear what is good, what is pure, and what is positive. We pray in Jesus name, Amen. February 8 The
blessings of a healthy mouth After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into
the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. He looked up to
heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, Ephphatha! (which means, Be opened!).
At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to
speak plainly. (Mark 7:33-35) O Lord of mercy and kindness, thank you for watching over our lives and
giving us our daily bread. Thank you for giving our children wisdom at school
and wisdom for living. Thank you for giving us these precious children as a
part of our family. O God of the Word, thank you for giving our children healthy mouths and
correct speech. Please sustain their oral health and protect them from wounds
and diseases. May they receive the necessary nutrients for good oral health.
Please protect them from mouth sores that often result from fatigue. Give them
beautiful mouths that are able to take in all the food and drink that the Lord
provides. We ask for your constant protection over our mouths. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
