Parents' Prayers For October

October 9 Let us be one in prayer

"I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (Matthew 18:18)

Lord, help us to pray with one heart as a family. Teach us today about the power of praying together. Lord, help our family to become God's temple where worship, praise, thanksgiving, and prayers never cease. You have promised that you will be with two or three who gather in your name. Lord, we know that the power of prayer lies not in the number of people, but in their oneness of hearts. Help our family to be in one accord in prayer.

Lord, we pray that there may be oneness of prayer wherever our children go. Guide them to pray together in one accord before they set out to do anything. Train them to become prayer warriors, who acknowledge God in all things. Lord, may their prayers bring fear to demons. Guard them from going ahead of God, but rather, help them to follow the Lord in obedience.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. 

October 10  May God be our guidance

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. (Psalm 119:105)

Holy Lord, you know the best way for us. Be the lamp unto our feet and the light for our path. Help our children to follow Jesus, who is the way, and to be shielded by the word of God.

May the word of God be their guide in their journey through life so that all things may go well. Lord, protect them from leaving the path of your word, and help them to be a faithful follower of in your way, even if it may be a slow journey.

Lord, guide them through your word so they don't trip or fall into a ditch. Bless them so they may always follow the light of your word and journey in safety. Lord, may the blessings of Immanuel, God with us, be with our children. May they be obedient as you lead them and learn to know what is pleasing to God.

October 11  Help us to love

Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. (Proverbs 10:12)

O God of life and love, thank you for establishing the family, which is the community of love. It is a place where parents and children love and comfort one another in the bounds of your love. Lord, we give you all the glory. Thank you for today and for helping our children in their school life. Bless them with abundant wisdom so their lives may be pleasing to God.

Lord, help our children to love others wherever they go, and may their love cover over all wrongs. Help them to fill their hearts with love that will protect them from hatred and dissension. Lord, you taught us that hating a brother is the same as murder. Guard us from hatred and dissension among our brothers and sisters, for you have taught us to love one another. If we love one another, the unbelievers will know that we are your disciples. Lord, help our children to love one another.

October 12  Guard us from witchcraft

I will destroy your witchcraft and you will no longer cast spells. (Micah 5:12)

O God of truth, as we walk the road of life, help us to trust only in your divine wisdom. Keep us from inquiring of astrology and fortunetellers. Lord, help our children to know that it is despicable to God for his children to inquire of astrologers and fortunetellers.

O God of wisdom, it may be possible that our children are swayed by what they see on TV, on the Internet, or in video games, thinking that witchcraft is just for fun. There are also many movies that suggest that there is reincarnation. Lord, Satan's work hides in many places, like music, the economy, society, culture, and even in religion. Even if we have great faith, we cannot follow our children around and protect them every moment. Please protect them from getting involved with things like witchcraft, astrology, and fortune telling. Lord, help them to be guided daily by the word of God so they may discern the spiritual things. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.
