Parents' Prayers For July
July 9 Teach them to honor their parents He who robs his
father and drives out his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.
(Proverbs 19:26) Lord, thank you
for giving us parents. Thank you for Jesus who taught us how to obey by
absolute obedience to his Heavenly Father. Lord, thank you for giving us life
through our parents. Thank you for showing us their example of God's love,
patience, forgiveness, and providence. We learn of God's fatherly love for us
through our parents. Lord, may our
children receive the blessings that come from honoring their parents. May they
never scorn their parents, and thereby incur the wrath of God. Help them to
love and respect their parents in the Lord. Help them to live by faith and in
good health, which is what we desire for them. Lord, you have taught us that
honoring our parents is the first command that comes with the promise of living
well and for many years. Help us to be parents worthy of being honored by our
children. Help our children to heed our words and learn wisdom from them. Help
them to be children who can show gratitude to their parents. We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen. July 10 Bless their descendants The righteous man
leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him. (Proverbs 20:7) O God of Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, thank you that our family belongs to the line of Abraham, by
faith. Thank you for calling us to become the descendants of Abraham just as
Zacchaeus was. Thank you for the promises of blessings that we have received
through Abraham. May we also leave the legacy of Abraham's blessings of land
and many descendants to our children. You have taught us
today that the righteous lead a blameless life; blessed are their children
after them. May our children receive the blessings of the righteous. Help us to
teach our children through our example about living a life of faith and
obedience to God. May our lives be renewed, and may our faith bear fruit
through our actions. Lord, bless our children with the blessings of the righteous,
and may they claim your promises in Deuteronomy 28. We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen. July 11 Keep them from falsehood The Lord detests
differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him. (Proverbs 20:23) God of truth,
thank you for choosing our children to be children of truth. Thank you for
helping us to raise them in God's truth so they may live lives of freedom and
liberty. Lord, although we know your truth, there have been times when we have
not been totally honest in our ways. Help us to learn the value of truth and
sincerity. Keep our children from defrauding others, for the Lord hates
different weights. Lord, keep them in
the truth which sets them free and keeps them from other sins. Keep them from
lies and fraudulent words that injure others. Lord, before Zacchaeus had met
the Lord, he was a cheater and a liar; but after he met Jesus, he paid them
back four times what he had taken from all those he had wronged. If we have
cheated others in the past, give us the courage to repent and pay them back.
Lord, may your spirit of truth be poured out upon our children so they may
prevail over all temptations to cheat others. We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. July 12 Open their ears to the cries of the poor If a man shuts his
ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered. (Proverbs
21:13) O God of the
pilgrim, God of the orphan and the widow, thank you for having given us food,
drink, and respite when we were strangers in a foreign land. Lord, we know that
you love those who are poor, and you long to relieve their needs. You delight
in showing your love to the orphan and the widow. Lord, may we never shut our
ears to the cry of the poor, but may we help them with love and material goods.
