Parents' Prayers For April

April 9 Help us to accept one another just as we are

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame. (Genesis 2:24-25)

God of all blessings, we desire to receive a wonderful blessing. We do not wish for the fame and riches of this world., but, we want to receive your blessings in our home. Help us to accept one another with love so we don't feel any shame with each other. Help us to love one another and to be loved just as we are.

May our family love and accept one another so all of us may experience peace and healing. Help us to become a united family. Help us to teach our children to be honest and sincere and not to be afraid of showing who we truly are. May we never become like those who hide themselves behind a mask.

Although we may be rejected and hurt out in the world, let our home be the place where we find acceptance and healing. May our home be a place where we experience true joy. Help us to accept our children just as they are and not to demand that they be something else. Give us the blessings of accepting each other just as You have created us.

We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

April 10  Lord, heal our family

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:8-9)

God who established Adam's family, help our family to know where we are spiritually so we may not hide from your presence. There are many families who hide from God; they cannot live before you. Help us to see where we stand so we may seek you all the more and receive your healing.

O God of love, how can we know where we are standing? Are we hiding from God? Guide us to be pleasing to you. Help us to see our own spiritual condition. Give us good health, and heal all of our wounds and hurts.

God of grace, sometimes we misunderstand that you are the God of judgment from which we run away in our fear. Help our family to experience God, who is the true healer. Even if we have sinned, help us to come to you, knowing the grace of our Father. If we have run away from you, please forgive us. Restore our family with your forgiveness.

We pray in the name of Jesus, who called us in grace. Amen.

April 11  Help us to become an obedient family

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: (Deuteronomy 28:1,2)

Lord, you desire for our family to grow spiritually. Please help us to become obedient to you. Although we want to live a faithful life, forgive us for the times we have disobeyed. We ask for the blessings of obedience. Please forgive us for the times we did not live according to the word of God.

Help us to become a family that heeds the word of God. Even as we approach the end times, help us parents and children to be united in obeying the Word of God. Help us to show our obedience through our actions.

The Lord blesses the obedient family. You have promised to bless those among all nations if they obey you. They will be blessed in the city, and they will be blessed in the fields. However, help us to know that our motive for obedience may not be only for blessings, but because we love you, thank you, and praise you.

We pray in the name of Jesus, who is the source of all blessings. Amen.

April 12  Bless our descendants

All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock-the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. (Deuteronomy 28:2-6)

Lord, you require us to be obedient to your word. Guide our family always revere you and obey you as we follow your word.

Lord, you are the source of all blessings. You promised that you would bless those who obey you, whether they are in the city or in the field. Bless our family at home, on the road, at school, in society, and in the church. Also bless our offspring, according to your promises.

Help us to teach our children obedience to God through modeling it ourselves. Help us to teach them that our first priority is to obey God's word so blessings may be passed on through the generations. May we be a family that lacks nothing in the blessings of the Lord.
