Parents' Prayers For May

May 9  Bless their storehouses

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor. The wages of the righteous bring them life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment. (Proverbs 10:15-16)

Lord, you clothe the lilies in the valley and provide food for the birds of the air. Thank you for giving us, not only our daily bread, but also clothing and shelter. Provide our children with all their needs throughout their lives so they don't have to worry about what to eat, what to drink, or what to wear.

May the generational blessings of obedience abide with our children eternally. May they show generosity, and thanksgiving, and give aid wherever they go. May they lend to many people, but borrow from no one. Bless them with abundance, physically and spiritually. Help them to become good stewards of God's rich resources here on earth.

We pray in Jesus' name, Amen. 

May 10 Bless their future marriages and families

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery-but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

(Ephesians 5:31-33)

Lord, you love sharing fellowship with us, and you have created us to have relationships. Help our children to meet their spiritual partners of faith. May they experience joy and delight in their marriage. May the Lord bless this marriage.

God of love, bless our children while they are under our care, but bless them also when they find their life partners. May they meet the partners that you have prepared for them in advance. May they marry at the right time, according to your will. May they establish godly families in the Lord and enjoy God's blessings. We know that the best spouse is not someone who is perfect, but rather it is someone who is suitable for each individual. Although we don't know who that may be, Lord, you already know them. Please help them to meet the suitable mate that you have already provided for them so they may establish a family of faith.

May 11  Protect them

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

Lord, you are our refuge and fortress in times of trouble. You have promised us that you will be with us to the ends of the earth, and that you will never leave us nor forsake us. We thank you and praise you, Lord. Who is faithful like you? Thank you for watching over our every breath and for protecting us.

Lord, our present society harbors cultural supremacists who bring hatred and destruction. There are dangers in many places. Lord, we are helpless without your help. Please protect our children not only physically, but also mentally, so they won't be traumatized and deeply wounded by other people. Whenever they face danger, please send them helpers who can safely aid them. Please deliver our children from danger. May they find rest for their souls, and may that Sabbath rest be in the Lord. May the promise of God's love and faithfulness abide with our children. May the Lord be their fortress, their shield, and refuge.  We pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

May 12  Bless them to know God’s proper time

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians 6:9-10)

Lord, you give us the blessings of opportunities in your proper time. May our children also be blessed with the gift of abundant opportunities in God's proper time. In your time, please help them to meet good friends, wise mentors, and suitable spouses. Help them to know God's proper time so they may not lose opportunities. Bless them that they may have many opportunities to serve the Lord with their time and resources. Give them discernment to know God's proper timing. Whether they take the opportunity or lose it, help them to bring God the glory.

Bless them also to give many opportunities to other people. Bless the people that our children meet and let them be met with gladness wherever they go. Lord, bless our children with the blessings of opportunities; opportunities of learning, serving, resting, helping others, and receiving grace.
