Parents' Prayers For June
June 21 Make them righteous
What the wicked
dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted. (Proverbs
10:24)
God of hope, thank
you for upholding us with your word. We give you all our glory and praise, for
you give us true joy in our hearts. Your words for us today give us great hope.
Although what the wicked fears will overtake him, what the righteous desires will
be granted. Lord, help us to become righteous in you.
We learned that
the desires of the righteous will be granted, and that the righteous are free
from fear. Lord, you have sent us your one and only son, Jesus, so we can
become righteous in him. May our children first know Jesus and become righteous
so their desires will be granted.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
June 22 Teach them humility
What the wicked
dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted. (Proverbs
11:2)
Thank you Lord,
for creating springtime when new growth appears, and we see life coming back in
nature. Thank you for the new leaves and the buds that are ready to flower. We
praise God for creating such beauty in nature.
Help us to be
humble before the Creator God, who made the whole universe. Lord, teach our
children to be humble toward their neighbors and friends so they may gain the
wisdom that comes with humility.
Lord, give them
good health so they may study well at school and learn wisdom that brings aid
to their neighbors. We know that God uses the humble to bring about his will.
May our children learn to be humble before everyone so others may see the
characteristics of a true Christian. We pray that the blessings of wisdom
imparted to the humble may be with our children and for all the generations to
come.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
June 23 Help them to be upright
The righteousness
of the upright delivers them, but the unfaithful are trapped by evil desires.
(Proverbs 11:6)
Good and merciful
God, thank you for your goodness which sustains us all of our days. Although we
are hopeless sinners, you have forgiven us with your loving kindness. Lord,
open up our hearts so we may truly repent of our sins against you.
You have taught us
in the Bible today that the righteousness of the upright delivers them. Lord,
you give salvation to those who are righteous. Please help our children to
become upright people.
You have given us
the grace of salvation through faith. Lord, please keep us from lies and
falsehoods. Help us to be upright so we may live with true freedom. Lord, the
world considers the upright to be foolish; however, help us to resist the
world's temptations and overcome by faith.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
June 24 Give us prudence
A fool shows his
annoyance at once, but a prudent man overlooks an insult. (Proverbs 12:16)
Almighty God, the
source of all wisdom, we give you thanks. Lord, watch over our children as they
sleep tonight, and may the hands of angels protect them as they sleep in peace.
Thank you for creating the day and the night. You know the prayer requests of our
children. You taught us not to hinder children from coming to you. Lord, hear
their prayers and answer them. Lord, please help our children to come to know
God and to grow spiritually through prayer.
Lord, you have
called us to be prudent. You said that a prudent man overlooks an insult. Lord,
may our children become prudent so they too may overlook insults. Help them to
live with prudence and patience. Give them discernment to know when to overlook
an insult and when to speak out boldly.
We pray in Jesus'
name, Amen.
